Katalla Runway
Jacob won third place in the 2013 Valdez short field take off and landing competition.  The combined take off and landing was 267 feet.

We camped at Katalla before the Valdez competition.  Jacob and I flew to Kayak Island and hiked to the Kayak Island light house.

Float Season starts on May 13, 2013 after the Valdez Fly In and Air Show

ACME Cub will attend the Valdez Fly In and Air Show this year.  Jacob is flying N7461L and I will fly N8977D.  We will be camping on the ramp at the Valdez airport.  We will plan a dinnertime fly-out to a gravel bar for dinner.  Come join us and help us gather fire wood.  Bring your own camp chairs.

We will return to Anchorage on May 12.   Floats Alaska will remove the Bushwheels on N8977D and install EDO 2000 floats on the morning of May 13th.   The 2013 float training season at the Lake Hood seaplane base will begin.

Airframes Alaska

ACME Cub Training purchased the fuselage to rebuild N8976D from Airframes Alaska.  The new fuselage weighs103 pounds with powder coating.  Our goal is to have this Cub weigh less than 1100 pounds on 31" Bushwheels with a 0-360 engine.   Airframes Alaska makes this goal achievable.

New Cub N303T

My son Jacob purchased his first aircraft, a Super Cub N303T.  This first pic is taken in our drive way as we pickel the engine.  The fuselage is now disassembled, sand-blasted, and Jacob is starting the rebuild process.  Our goal is 1025 pounds with a 0-320 and 31" Bushwheels.   We have plenty of time to get this one flying.  Jacob does not get to fly it until he pays the loan (to hid dad) in full.  Jacob is very motivated to finish his ratings.  He wants to be able to make money flying.
